Over the past few years, I have witnessed the establishment of important research and institutional links between the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences and the Australian National University. Australian investments in Yunnan agribusiness have flourished. Chinese firms, particularly miners and real estate developers, such as Yunnan Tin and Kunming City Construction, have continued to invest heavily in Australia.
